Recovering after New Crown placement

Now that you've undergone a procedure to cement a crown, here are a few things to bear in mind:

The nerve in your tooth could become sensitive to temperature. To create space for the crown, the size of the tooth is reduced; which is a probable cause for sensitivity. This level of sensitivity will gradually decrease but it could take a few days, up to weeks. We encourage you to call us if the sensitivity continues up to four weeks afterwards, or if you are not feeling well
If you feel uncomfortable with the bite, contact us. The crown is developed so that it accurately reflects how you bite. Our natural intuition given the sensitivity of the mouth means that it's easy to feel if something is 'off'. To avoid any soreness or other issues from an incorrect bite, do not hesitate to contact your dentist's office
Avoid foods that are sticky as they can make your crown come loose. If this happens and your crown becomes wobbly, loose or falls off, contact us immediately. Please do bring the crown with you if it has come off
Avoid chewing ice or hard materials. This puts unnecessary force on your teeth, including on the new crown. This could cause cracks, fissures or splitting; which in turn could lead to injury
